Dinosaur Adventure 3D presents activities in colorful and imaginative environments designed to make learning more enjoyable. Children will learn about dinosaurs and their environment, as they help Rolf gather hatching crystals and dinosaur eggs that were lost when T-Rex arrived.
Before you can start the adventure, you have to sign in.
Other Features on the Sign-In screen:
There is a Toolbar in Dinosaur Adventure 3-D which allows the player to easily navigate through the program. Here's what you'll find on it in order from left to right:
Rolf and Pterrance will need your help to find all the lost dinosaur eggs. Here is all the information you'll need to help restore order to Paleo Island.
You can get to any time period or activity from the Island Overview screen. If you are ever lost, just click on the Island Overview Map icon to return to the Island Overview screen. Or, if you are not in an activity, click on the very top of the screen.
The island is divided into the three dinosaur ages. In the Triassic Period, you can leap across tar bubbles in Triassic Tar Pits and puzzle your way through caves in Connect-a-Cave. In the Jurrasic Period, you can match your wits against a roaming Predator or reassemble dinosaur skeletons and watch them come to life in Bone Builder. Finally, in the Cretaceous Period, you can run with the Gallimimuses in Galloping Gallimimuses, or unscramble a pile of dinosaur eggs in Scrambled Eggs.
Join the Parasaurolophus Rolf and his friend Pterrance on an exciting adventure to save Paleo Island from the clutches of T-Rex. The dinosaurs of Paleo Island have never before encountered a threat like T-Rex. When T-Rex arrives, they scatter at his approach, abandoning dinosaur eggs in panic and confusion. Your job is to find and hatch nine of the lost dinosaur eggs hidden throughout the island. When you hatch all the eggs, the baby dinos will help you and Rolf teach T-Rex a lesson he'll never forget.
In the middle of Paleo Island, the Volcano provides the warmth and protection you need to hatch your dinosaur eggs. When you have collected three hatching crystals and found a dinosaur egg, go directly to the Hatchery which is located inside the Volcano. Once inside the Hatchery, click on the inventory nest to move your egg to its permanent nest. Then place three hatching crystals around the egg and watch it hatch.
Inside the Volcano, you'll also find the Crystal Cave Movie Theater where you can collect and watch dinosaur movies. As you explore Paleo Island, click on the dinosaurs you see and Rolf will show you a movie about that dinosaur. Once you've seen the movie, it's automatically added to the Crystal Cave Movie Theater so you can watch it any time.
The Triassic Period is made up of four screens. To navigate from one screen to the next, place the cursor on the left or right side of the screen. The cursor will change to an image of an arrow pointing in the direction chosen. When you see this cursor, click the mouse and you will move to the next screen.
If there is an egg hidden in one of the screens, Pterrance will notify you with an "Egg Alert" and then he'll give you a clue about where the egg is hidden. Click around on the screen and try to find the hidden egg. But hurry up. If you don't move quickly, T-Rex may show up. When this happens, you will automatically be taken to the Island Overview screen for safety.
On the Triassic screen with the Tar Pits, click on the pool of tar on the far
right side of the screen to go to Triassic Tar Pits. On the Triassic
screen with the cave, click on the cave for a round of Connect-A-Cave.
To get to this game, look for the bubbling tar pits in the Triassic Period. Your goal is to help Rolf rescue a baby dinosaur trapped on an island in the tar pits. Click on the screen in the direction you want Rolf to hop and Rolf will jump across the floating objects to the baby dinosaur.
Be careful, though. Tar is a tricky substance and the stepping objects rise and sink in the tar. If Rolf is on an object that sinks, he'll also sink, and you will have to go back to the nearest island.
There are two objects in the tar that will never sink. These are the Rocks and Logs. Rolf can stand on these while you plot out your next moves. If Rolf jumps on a Tar Bubble, the bubble will pop and he will be launched one space in the direction of the arrow located on the tar bubble.
If you are clever, you can catch a ride on the giant dragonflies and beetles. To climb onto one of the insects, wait for it to come to a complete stop and then hop aboard.
The Tar Pits game has three levels of difficulty. As you increase the level of difficulty, new obstacles will be put in your way and the objects will rise and sink faster and faster.
To get to this game, click on the glowing cave in the Triassic Period. The object of the game is to create a map for Rolf so that he can find the dino lost in the cave. Once you create the map, watch Rolf rescue the dino.
Connect-A-Cave is a two stage game. In the first stage you have to build a path that connects two or three caves. To connect the caves, click on one of the Cave Cards located on the bottom of the screen. Then click on a grid square where you think the piece belongs. Continue to place the cards until the pictures on the Cave Cards form a line from one cave to the other. If a card is placed on the grid and you want to move it again, simply click on it and then click on the new grid location. Please note that the cards cannot be rotated. There is a solution to every puzzle without rotating the cards.
If you want to watch Rolf rescue the dino, just click on the button with a picture of Rolf on it. If you would prefer to try another puzzle, just click on the button labeled "New" and you can skip the second part of the game.
In the second stage you can construct simple, fun paths for Rolf to walk through. Click on the squared to create the paths. The square will then change to one of two path shapes. When all of the squares have a path shape on them, click on Rolf and he will run through the paths to the dinosaur on the other side. If you want to see Rolf return along the same path, just click on him again. If you want to change the path shapes after Rolf has run across, just click on them again. If you want to build a new map, just click on the map button.
The Connect-a-Cave activity has three levels of difficulty. As you increase the difficulty level, the number of Cave Cards needed to complete each map increases.
The Jurassic Period is made up of four screens. To navigate from one screen to the next, place the cursor on the left or right side of the screen. The cursor will change to an image of an arrow pointing in the direction.
When this happens, you will automatically be taken to the Island Overview Screen.
On the Jurassic screen with the waterfall, click on the waterfall to go to the Bone Builder activity. On the Jurassic screen with the hollowed out tree, click on the tree to try the Predator activity.
Click on the waterfall in the Jurassic Period to get to this game. In the Bone Builder activity, T-Rex has disrupted a rare dinosaur fossil trove and now the player must help Rolf reassemble the bones of six different dinosaurs. After completing each reassembly, you can see the dinosaur come to life.
To select a dinosaur, just click on the picture of the fossilized dinosaur skull that you want to play with. You will then see an outline of the dinosaur skeleton and some bones in a container on the right side of the screen. To place a bone, click on one of the bones in the container and then click on the proper location on the skeleton outline, which is indicated by highlighting. You must be exact, or the bone will fall back into the container. If you cannot find the correct location for a bone, click on the arrow keys located on the container. The container will then scroll to show more bones. By process of elimination, you can eventually place all the bones.
The Bone Builder activity has three levels of difficulty. As you increase the difficulty level, the number of bones needed to complete a dinosaur increases. At the highest level of difficulty, bones that you have placed on the dinosaur outline will fall out again if you do not finish the puzzle fast enough.
If you complete a skeleton and would like to try a different dinosaur, click on the button with the pickaxe on it. You will then return to the dinosaur selection wall.
Click on the trees in the Jurassic Period to go to Predator. In this game, you must maneuver Rolf through a jungle to rescue a stranded Brachiosaurus, while avoiding the roaming T-Rex. To play this game you must listen carefully. Rolf will be hidden under the thick jungle canopy and you must use sound cues to steer Rolf away from trouble. Move Rolf by clicking on the arrows on the screen or the arrows on your keyboard.
Start the game by clicking on the green light surrounded by arrows on the left side of the screen. A pebble will leap out of Rolf's hand and land in the center of the light. Each pebble represents an opportunity for Rolf to move ahead. For each pebble, a random number from one to five appears indicating how many spaces Rolf can move. Each time you click one of the directional arrows or the arrow buttons on the keyboard, Rolf will move one space and the number will decrease by one. When the number is down to zero, you must click on the green light again to get another turn.
Be careful -- there are lots of dangers in the jungle.
The Predator activity has three levels of difficulty. As you increase the difficulty level, the number of predators within the jungle increases.
The Cretaceous Period is made up of four screens. To navigate from one screen to the next, place the cursor on the left or right side of the screen. The cursor will change to an image of an arrow pointing in the direction that you will move. When you see this cursor, click the mouse and you will move to the next screen.
If there is an egg hidden in one of the screens, Pterrance will notify you
with an "Egg Alert" and then he'll give you a clue about where the egg is
hidden. Click around on the screen and try to find the hidden egg. But hurry up.
If you don't move quickly,
On the Cretaceous screen with the cave, click on the cave. When you are inside the cave, click on the egg pile to go to Scrambled Eggs. On the Cretaceous screen with the rocky beach, click on the the big canyon opening to go for a run in the Galloping Gallimimuses activity.
Click on the cave in the Cretaceous Period to go to this activity. T-Rex has shaken up a hidden pile of dinosaur eggs and now they're not in order. The goal of Scrambled Eggs is to match all of the eggs until none are left on the screen.
When you want to select an egg, just click on it. The egg will then highlight. To make a match, just click on an available matching egg. If you want to de-select an egg that is highlighted, just click on it again.
If you're having trouble figuring out when an egg is available, this section is for you. For an egg to be available for selection, look for an egg that has at least one side, left or right, that's not touching another egg. Then look for an egg with the same picture on it. Make sure that the egg has at least one side free.
If you don't like the puzzle that is being displayed or you want to start over, click the Options button on the tool bar. If you select Shuffle, the same set of dinosaur eggs will just be rearranged so that the shape of the pile is different. If you select Start Over, you will be given exactly the same game pieces in exactly the same shape as when you started the game. If you select New Game, you will be given different dinosaur eggs in a differently shaped pile.
Scrambled Eggs has three levels of difficulty. All of the puzzles have a solution, but some are harder than others.
To get to this game, click on the big canyon opening in the Cretaceous Period. The goal of Galloping Gallimimuses is to escape the rampaging T-Rex. Help Rolf guide a stampede of Gallimimuses out of the canyon to safety.
To steer Rolf, move the mouse left and right. To avoid obstacles, click on the mouse and Rolf will jump.
When Rolf runs into a healing plant, you get 1,000 points. You'll use up one healing plant and 1,000 points every time Rolf runs into an obstacle or two leaves and 2,000 points every time he is hit by a Gallimimus. If Rolf loses too much strength, he'll have to rest and you will have to start from the beginning of the trail again.
Another way to get points is to jump and grab the blue leaves that hang from branches or are held by the bird that occasionally flies over the path. Each blue leaf is worth 2,000 points and will allow Rolf to jump longer distances. These are especially useful for jumping over the chasms that appear along the path.
If you successfully jump Rolf over a chasm, you will get a 3,000 point bonus. If you don't quite make it, Pterrance will fly in and rescue you free of charge. If you successfully reach the end of the path, there is a 5,000 point bonus waiting for you. Also waiting for you at the end of the trail is a hatching crystal if you have room in the inventory nest.
Be careful on the trail. If Rolf runs into one of the obstacles, you will lose 1,000 points and Rolf will lose one leaf worth of strength. If Rolf loses too much strength, he'll have to rest and you will have to start from the beginning of the trail again. Another way that Rolf loses strength is if a Gallimimus hits him. In this case you will lose 2,000 points and Rolf will lose two leaves worth of strength.
There are three difficulty levels in the Galloping Gallimimus activity. At level one, the speed of the stampede is slow. The player must jump over one chasm to end the game. Also on level one, Rolf starts the game with five leaves of healing strength. At level two, the speed of the stampede is a little faster and the player must jump over three chasms before the hatching crystal can be collected. At level two, Rolf starts the game with only three healing leaves. At level three, the Gallimimuses stampede very quickly and the player must jump over five chasms before a hatching crystal can be collected. Also on level three, Rolf starts the game with only one healing leaf.
When you have collected and hatched all nine of the lost dinosaur eggs, you'll get to watch Rolf and your nine baby dinos give T-Rex just what he deserves. You'll have to finish the game to find out what happens!
